Tanner Hecht is
originally from the small town of
Reese, MI. He first felt his call to
the medical field his junior year of
high school after acting as a first
responder to his father’s
life-threatening farming accident.
It was through his father’s
follow-up care that he was
introduced to and inspired by the PA
profession. He was admitted to the
Honors Program at Central Michigan
University and began to pursue a
degree in neuroscience and
kinesiology. While attending school,
he worked as a CNA in a long-term
care facility and an EMT for an
ambulance company in Mt. Pleasant.
For three years, he was also
involved in his campus’
Medical/Dental chapter of Global
Brigades, an organization that
utilizes a holistic and multifaceted
approach to empower and make
sustainable changes in underserved
communities within developing
countries. All these experiences are
what fueled his drive to apply and
begin PA school right after
graduation from CMU.
Tanner is the
Interview/Orientation Chair of the
PA Class of 2020 and has worked to
revamp the way current PA students
interact with prospective and
admitted students in hopes that they
can discover if Wayne’s program is
the best fit for them. When he’s not
in class or studying, Tanner enjoys
going on road trips, being with
loved ones, camping, and having a
great cup of coffee. |
